MARJORIE BARRICK MUSEUM

The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway, features permanent exhibits on old and modern Las Vegas as well as Smithsonian exhibits (895-3381).


MUSEUM OF MEMORIES

The Museum of Memories at the Ramada Express, 2121 S. Casino Drive, Laughlin, features exhibits, vintage movies and newsreels, dance contests, a World War II Spitfire airplane, military vehicles in the parking lot and free rides on the Troop Train. ©On the Wings of Eagles Ð A Tribute to American Heroes©" is presented on the hour, once an hour, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily in the Pavilion Theater. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is free. (298-4200).


NEVADA STATE MUSEUM

Nevada State Museum & Historical Society, 700 Twin Lakes Drive, has permanent exhibits on regional and natural history with a 13-foot articulated mammoth skeleton and an in-depth treatment of Las Vegas during the 1940s. Admission is $2, free for children younger than 18 (486-5205).


NEVADA TEST SITE HISTORY CENTER

The Nevada Test Site History Center, 2621 Losee Road, North Las Vegas features multimedia displays, artifacts and memorabilia associated with the 50 year history of the nuclear testing activities. Hours are Mondays-Fridays, noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free (295-1198).


SEARCHLIGHT HISTORIC MUSEUM

The Searchlight Historic Museum & Historic Mining Park offers self-guided tours featuring the history of Searchlight and its residents. The museum is inside the Searchlight Community Center, 200 Michael Wendell Way, Searchlight. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free (297-1682).


THUNDERBIRD MUSEUM

Thunderbird Museum, 4445 Tyndall Ave., offers tours at 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Visitors should go to the Nellis Air Force Base main gate by 1:45 p.m. Admission is free (652-7200).
